When we set up La Lutte we had the opportunity to implement many sustainable practices from the outset. We want to make sure that we do our bit, and more if we can, to help reduce the impact that the fashion industry has on our environment.
To protect them on their journey, we hand pack all your orders in recycled acid free tissue paper, secured with our pretty little stickers.
Our tissue paper is produced by Noissue and is made from FSC recycled paper and is fully home compostable. Some recycling facilities can also recycle tissue paper, you’ll need to check locally. The stickers are made from recycled paper and use eco-friendly glue and ink.
Our beautiful postcards are produced just for us by the sustainable printing company in small batches to save on waste. They are made of 100% recycled material which in turn can be recycled again.
To keep all the smaller items in your order from getting lost, we’ve use glassine bags which are made of wood pulp.
The best thing about these bags is they can help you with one of those pesky sewing problems! If your not luck enough to have a sewing machine designed for delicate fabric, chances are that you’ve lost the fabric down your feed dogs at the start of a seam.
I keep a hand little stash of used bags in a drawer next to my sewing machine and if i’m sewing delicate lace or slippery stretch mesh I simply pop a small square under my fabric when I start sewing, and tear it away at the end. Genius!
As internet shopping has increased in popularity, it’s important to be aware of how much packaging comes with all those goodies. We use Heaps Good and Hero packaging for our Ecomailers / Compostable mailers, they are made from corn starch, PLA (vegetable-based plastic material) and PBAT (composting co-polymer) to post out our orders. Unlike traditional plastic mailers, these mailers can be composted at home and wont take 300 years to break down!
These mailers are both durable and waterproof ensuring that your order arrives in perfect condition.
Home Compostable (AS5810) and Commercially Compostable (AS4736)
We also use thermally printed shipping labels that are compostable, so no need to cut off the labels before you compost the mailers.

Yes, we know it’s very tempting to just get going, but making your own underwear is all about getting a great fit and taking it slow. We sell fitting band kits and wash away thread to minimise the waste and contributing to landfill.
Wash away thread is made from PVU and dissolves in warm water, if the fit isn’t quite right, Simply make note of the necessary adjustments and put your band in a sink of warm water and your fabrics and elastics can be dried and used again.
We sell our fabric in small cuts. By selling our laces and tulles by the ½ metre and fabrics by the fat quarter you wont end up with lots of leftovers.
To avoid wasted fabric and money! We’ll happily send you a free sample so you can check the colour is right for your next project.
Where possible we minimise air miles and use fabrics & suppliers that meet industry sustainability standards.
